Security projects run into problems with diminishing IT staff

With shrinking IT staff sizes, many companies find themselves in a bind when it comes to their security needs.

According to a recent Network World report, one company is facing this exact problem when it comes to deploying its security solutions. Due to the recent economy, employees are being let go and not replaced, putting additional strain on IT departments.

"My security products are up and running, but I need various IT systems to be configured to integrate with these new security systems," said the Network World report. "That's where I have to rely on the server team, the network team and the desktop team."

At this point, all the company can do is to search for solutions that offer gradual progress to combat the growing issue, the report stated.

Although businesses may be facing difficulties retaining IT employees, technology spending has a much brighter outlook. According to Gartner, worldwide IT budgets are expected to reach nearly $3.7 trillion this year, which is an increase of 7.1 percent and higher than the research firm's previous projection of a 5.6 percent rise.
