Bit9 reports only 32 percent of IT execs confident in their current security

Bit9, a software intelligence firm, recently released a survey of more than 1,200 polled IT professionals regarding the current welfare of their corporate PCs. The results showed that a majority of their systems host unauthorized software, including malware and spyware.
Of the respondents, 68 percent state that their company has restrictions in place that prevent unauthorized downloads; however, 45 percent found that such software exists on more than half of their systems. Furthermore, 46 percent stated that malware had eluded their current antivirus software.
Thus, as a result, only 32 percent of the responding IT execs feel confident in their current security system.
A solution for the IT departments losing faith in their security is to outsource responsibilities to a third-party firm. With a
managed network, IT departments can rely on outside experts to oversee their security and thus, the execs can focus on other areas needing attention.
Outsourcing has become increasing popular. In 2009, more than 75 percent of outsourcing firms experienced growth, according to CIO.com.
