Technology companies looking to new ways to combat cyber threats

With the proliferation of
mobile devices, including
smartphones and
tablets, and the emergence of new technologies including
cloud computing, cybersecurity remains an issue for organizations across the globe.
According to a recent announcement by the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants, technology companies are bolstering their defenses in an effort to stop malware and other software from harming their IT infrastructure.
Jay Bavisi, president of the EC-Council, said that the emphasis is being placed on mobile forensics as a solution to this development. This will also help improve the knowledge of mobile operating systems, which can benefit both companies and end-users, added Bavisi.
"The constant stream of data on-the-go, combined with the prevalence of convenient cloud computing, have only served to compound this lack of direct control over one's personal or corporate data," the EC-Council said.
As more people adopt smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices,
security remains a major issue. According to a recent PC World report, mobile users who download applications are advised to conduct research prior to downloading applications they are not familiar with. Otherwise, malicious applications can compromise the device and possibly other sensitive information.
