Mobile browsing experience not on par with consumer expectations

According to a recent independent study of more than 4,000 global consumers by the Compuware Corporation, mobile internet browsing and application performance specs are not meeting customer demands.

Of those surveyed, many indicated their mobile experience is not reliable or slow, as 71 percent expect their browsers to load web pages as fast, if not faster, as their computers. However, 46 percent of respondents said their mobile browsers are slower than their PCs.

Additionally, 57 percent of participants said they had a problem accessing a website with a mobile device in the past year. If their service was more reliable, 80 percent indicated they would use their mobile devices to access sites more frequently. If a website experienced trouble loading, nearly half of those surveyed said they are unlikely to return to that site, while 57 percent said they would not recommend it.

Another issue in the mobile device market is a disconnect among employees and IT departments. According to an IDC study for Unisys, 87 percent of IT managers said employees receive their devices from the company, while more than half of workers said they had to purchase their own smartphones and tablets.
