Cloud computing not going away anytime soon

Cloud computing is expected to continue its rise in the IT world due to its broad range of benefits. A recent Business 2 Community report revealed several advantages of the cloud that will keep its run of success on track long into the future.
"Cloud computing allows people to access data and documents from any computer,
tablet or
smartphone, as long as they have a working internet connection," wrote the news provider's Rob Boirun. "This is especially helpful when working on collaborative projects, as documents can be simultaneously viewed and edited from widely disparate locations."
According to Boirun, the cloud allows companies to scale their storage demands to fit their needs, while also offering lower cost than traditional software. Cloud computing also spreads data among several servers, increasing
security and providing near-instant data recovery via online backup solutions.
Boirun added that by using the cloud, companies can also lower their carbon emission output and take advantage of significant energy savings.
A recent study conducted by a telecommunications company for the Carbon Disclosure Project revealed the immense cost benefits associated with cloud computing. Its research showed that U.S. companies that earn more than $1 billion in yearly revenue and use the cloud can save more than $12 billion in energy costs annually by 2020.
