A recent eWeek report by Clint Boulton revealed the
cloud computing may be a particularly effective means of addressing the continued adoption of
mobile devices such as
tablets and
smartphones by employees and other pressing IT needs.
"Anyone wondering what 2012 will look like for the cloud computing market can look at 2011 and add a lot more of the same," wrote Boulton. "If cloud computing is the tree trunk, its two strongest branches are mobile and social technologies."
In an interview with the news provider, cloud industry expert Amit Singh said his company recently adopted a BYOD policy to support workers who have tablets and smartphones. Singh added that the business implemented
mobile device management software that allows IT managers to control mobile applications.
Dimension Data chief information officer Ian Jansen also believes the importance of addressing the BYOD development among employers by providing a flexibility management policy. In an interview with CIO, Jansen revealed the importance of allowing workers to choose their own devices, noting that prospective workers have even mentioned the subject during preliminary interviews.
