Based upon recent figures released by Point Topic, a UK-based broadband communication information provider, the broadband market has rebounded in 2010, Fierce Telecom reports.

Point Topic announced, at the end of 2010's first quarter, there are currently 484 million worldwide subscribers, which is up 14.7 million from the previous quarter - a 3 percent increase.

The U.S. specifically had 87 million broadband lines at the end of Q1 2010, which placed it second in worldwide volume. China easily holds the top spot with more than 112.5 million lines and experienced 45 percent of the overall growth during the quarter. The Asia-Pacific region led that sector, taking 53 percent worldwide. Japan, Germany and France rounded out the top five for countries with the greatest volume of active lines.

The rebound comes as good news for broadband service or managed network providers, as the market in 2009 was slow.

The U.S. is hoping to increase its broadband capabilities as well, with the Federal Communications Commission's new National Broadband Plan that hopes to have high-speed broadband to 100 million homes in the country by 2020.ADNFCR-3353-ID-19851757-ADNFCR
