Use of tablets emerging as top cloud trend among small businesses

Small Business Trends recently reported that several developments are taking place surrounding the use of
cloud computing within smaller companies.
One key trend noted by the news provider included the extensive use of
tablets, especially among remote workers.
"The point is that the iPad has kicked off a whole new expectation of what a machine can and should do, and often the apps that are needed to run these devices are Software-as-a-Service-based," said the Small Business Trends report.
Other significant developments taking place in the cloud include many small businesses are utilizing its online storage and backup solutions. The news provider added companies can find these services easily and that they are not expensive to adopt. Also, if more capacity is needed, premium vendors can increase the storage capabilities.
The use of
mobile devices such as tablets and
smartphones are driving the demand for cloud computing services. According to a recent study of more than 3,640 responses from IT professionals from a cloud vendor, 33 percent cited the need to support a mobile workforce is their top reason for adopting the technology.
