The future of businesses within the cloud

The benefits of cloud services are clear to many businesses, regardless of design or industry. With the popularity of cloud computing on the rise, entrepreneurs are wondering how cloud technology will affect the future operational model of the small business.

SciTech.com reported that 85 million people had signed up for Apple's iCloud service, as well as 50 million for Dropbox and 17 million for Microsoft's SkyDrive programs in the past month.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said, "I see it as a fundamental shift, recognizing that people had numerous devices, and they wanted the bulk of their content in the cloud, and easily accessible from all of the devices."

Since so many customers are willing to use the cloud from home, it is expected that small businesses will do the same. Technology like IT infrastructure management service will essentially eliminate the need for an office, allowing employees in areas like customer service to use the cloud to telecommute.

The cost of travel will be greatly reduced because of the incorporation of cloud services. If the cloud computing industry continues to grow at the same rate it has over the past few years, the majority of business operations may soon take place in a non-professional environment.
