Survey reveals positive attitudes towards cloud computing
Thursday, July 22, 2010
A survey recently conducted by CWJobs found a significant number of IT professionals believe an increase in IT jobs as a result of
cloud computing is possible.
As many as 40 percent of the respondents stated they believe cloud computing will lead to more IT opportunities, not less. Employees in their early 20s showed a positive stance for the technology moving forward, more so than other demographics. Sixty-five percent were optimistic as opposed to professionals in their 40s, who predicted negative consequences.
According to the survey, the IT industry generally considers
cloud skills an attractive attribute. A majority - 70 percent - believed knowledge of cloud computing made them more employable.
Richard Nott, director of CWJobs is satisfied with the results of the survey and is glad that people realize the career opportunities that come with the emergence of cloud computing. While it is not yet clear which specific skills will be useful for cloud computing, the majority of IT professionals do believe there will be a need to adapt to capitalise on the changing IT landscape and that is the time to do this, he said.
