Service brokers may be key to cloud’s future

As it becomes more apparent that the IT industry is undergoing a shift toward cloud computing, more companies than ever are looking to provide cloud services to customers - a situation that some say could be trickier than most companies realize.

In a recent interview with Connect Planet, 2020 Venture Partners CEO Hossein Eslambolchi advocated the use of “brokers” as a key to effectively deploying and managing cloud computing environments.

“When you have so many companies in the mix - each with its own service expectations and OSS/BSS, management systems and security, a cloud service broker can help tremendously with management of the cloud,” Eslambolchi said.

Eslambolchi believes cloud computing is an essential component to technology’s future, but he states that human intervention and an absence of standards have already caused problems in the cloud’s implementation. In order for operators to fully embrace the cloud, service brokers must be used to connect to back-end systems and phase out existing systems, he stated.

Other experts have recently questioned the future of cloud computing, wondering if it may soon become too limiting. In a recent Tech News World article, some experts expressed a concern that cloud computing may soon have to change its form in order to incorporate mobile technology.
