The growing need for trained IT professionals who can effectively deal with
security incidents is expected to lead to an increase in salaries for these positions.
eWeek's Fahmida Rashid recently reported that a salary guide published by IT staffing firm Robert Half Technology includes projections for 70 IT occupations, including six security positions. According to the research, IT security salaries are projected to increase by 4.5 percent in 2012.
"All six jobs, including data security analysts, network security administrators, systems security administrators, information system security managers, chief security officers and network security engineers are projected to have higher salary increases than the average across all IT jobs," wrote Rashid.
The Robert Half survey revealed that the security positions are expected to range from $85,000 to $172,250 in 2012.
A recent study conducted by research firm Gartner expects security spending to increase in 2011. According to its research, global security budgets are projected to grow from $31.1 billion in 2010 to $35.1 billion this year.
