Researchers say cloud services will spur IT spending

The growth of cloud computing in the enterprise sector will help keep overall IT spending on an upward trajectory, research from World Street Fundamentals indicated.

However, the news source said, the total growth in IT spending has lagged behind the S&P 500 overall this year.

Nevertheless, business IT will build out existing server capabilities, regardless of whether a given company is shifting to the cloud or not. This is because the new capacity in hardware and bandwidth will need to happen somewhere, either at a business that has decided to stick to the traditional system model, or at a cloud service provider that handles other companies' infrastructure.

With the growth in demand for cloud computing services, cloud security will become an increasingly serious concern, some experts say. Although many security professionals assert that the cloud introduces new vulnerabilities, others say the framework is no more or less vulnerable than existing setups, as the ability to centralize defensive measures makes up for the increased exposure of data moving between the cloud and the user.
