Private cloud computing labeled top enterprise technology trend

Monday, November 28, 2011

InfoWorld recently announced its list of top 10 emerging enterprise technology trends with private cloud computing claiming the No. 1 spot.

"The old method of dedicating infrastructure and admins to individual projects is killing us, resulting in underutilized capacity, high administrative overhead, and drawn-out project cycles," said InfoWorld. "One solution is to pool compute, storage, and network resources in a private cloud - and move IT toward more agile and efficient shared architectures."

According to InfoWorld, the private cloud allows organizations to integrate different technologies and architectures from public cloud offerings and implement them into their own data centers. Private clouds have many different systems working together.

As storage needs continue to grow, companies are expected to adopt private clouds on a greater scale. According to a recent announcement by research firm International Data Corporation, private cloud infrastructure spending between 2010 and 2015 is projected to increase at an annual compound growth rate of 28.9 percent, leading to combined public and private cloud budgets of $22.6 billion.
