As more employees adopt mobile devices including smartphones and tablets, some organizations may be worried about the potential for greater security risks.

According to a recent whitepaper released by Forrester Research, there are best practices for mobile device management that companies can implement to ensure that data is properly managed and secure, TMC reports.

Some of the best practices include making sure that all mobile devices with access to company computers are managed by the organization itself and isolating corporate data from personal information for further protection, the news provider reported.

In order to ensure further protection, officials are encouraged to set a security starting point to prevent breaches, which include email, a minimum length PIN and more stringent passwords. Furthermore, hosting data by utilizing public cloud computing also benefits companies hoping to improve their mobile device management, according to TMC.

Since more employees are adopting smartphones at a fast pace, mobile malware is expected to become more prominent. According to a recent PC World report, users should not download any mobile application they are not familiar with and do prior research to ensure they are not in danger of triggering malware.
