New standards being set for cloud computing

In the IT industry, Service oriented architecture (SOA) is fundamental to the idea of interoperable software. SOA provides consumers and businesses with adaptable interfaces used across a wide network of platforms on both mobile and traditional devices. With the rise of the cloud computing industry, the current question is how to optimize SOA procedures within cloud technology. Professional organizations are answering by beginning to set standards for SOA and cloud services.

The Open Group, a self-described consortium of IT experts and business professionals, recently released SOA Reference Architecture (SOA RA), designed to create and implement plans for SOA solutions. They also released the Service-Oriented Cloud Computing Infrastructure Framework (SOCCI), which is the first official cloud regulation released by The Open Group. SOCCI is a conceptional infrastructure management program that describes the fundamentals of joint SOA/Cloud projects.

According to the consortium's website, by "using SOCCI, organizations can incorporate cloud-based resources and services into their infrastructure for increased agility and scale, and lower maintenance costs." As more standard technology is incorporated into cloud services, the cloud computing industry will continue to greatly influence the IT market.
