With
IT infrastructure management service, organizations can improve consumption and workload levels. But to do this, there needs to be a high level of integration between platforms that have traditionally been governed on their own.
In a recent IT Business edge report, Henrik Leerberg and Anthony DeSpirito of Schneider Electric discussed data center infrastructure management and where its headed.
"The best way to ensure transparency and insight into multi-vendor data centers would be to first of all work with a DCIM platform that truly supports multi-vendor devices and equipment," said Leerberg, product line director for data center software at Schenider. "These systems/platform will normalize how various models of devices are viewed further up the value chain by abstracting away the individuality. This ensures clean and comparable environments that help and guide administrators to make informed decisions despite the use of multi-vendor equipment across their data centers."
DeSpirito, vice president of global alliances at the company, said the benefit of going with a network solution over a traditional platform includes having more control and access, as well as allowing companies to become more energy efficient.
The University of Colorado Boulder's Office of Information Technology said using
managed network services allows companies to pass the risk of running their own networks on to trained professionals, which allows business leaders to focus more of their attention on day-to-day operations. A DCIM solution is especially beneficial for smaller businesses, which typically don't have the time or resources to be operating their network services.
