Logicworks launches beta public cloud service
Tuesday, November 30, 2010
Web hosting provider Logicworks recently announced it has began beta testing its new public
cloud offering, InfiniCloud, which combines the company's traditional managed hosting services with the cloud, IDG News Service reports.
According to Logicworks president and chief operating officer Kenneth Ziegler, this shared computing environment will allow websites to better manage heavy spikes in traffic, while also giving users the option to manage content off the cloud.
Logicworks is essentially providing an extra layer of security by allowing businesses to send read-only traffic to the public InfiniCloud, but also letting them keep critical applications on dedicated servers.
According to IDG News Service, Logicworks' InfiniCloud was built on high-performance hardware, including Xeon Westmere processors, 40 gigabytes-per-second storage networking and the choice between SATA or 15k SAS RAID 10 disk arrays.
The full release of InfiniCloud is expected to be available in January next year, IDG News reports.
According to Web Host Industry Review, Logicworks says its InfiniCloud has already generate a significant amount of interest from potential customers, including
video game titles, television network websites and online investment and trading services.
