IBM recently announced it has updated its flagship
cloud computing platform LotusLive with new communication and collaboration features.
With the new update, LotusLive delivers enterprise-class LotusLive Notes email, calendaring, instant messaging, web conferencing, file sharing and social networking services.
With the release, companies will have the option of using Lotus Notes as a cloud computing service, enabling them to access the program from their personal PCs and mobile devices.
IBM Vice President of
Cloud Collaboration Sean Poulley said businesses are looking to reduce costs while also finding ways to work more closely with their customers and partners.
“LotusLive gives them the right tools to do this, delivered by a company they trust and is focused on security and reliability,” Poulley said.
IBM also introduced a feature called Communities, which it says will help advance organizations’ ability to work together both inside and outside their companies. With Community, users will have the ability to tag information, share files and bookmarks, track projects and host discussion forums across multiple companies.
