IBM has expanded its
cloud application development and testing platform to enable enterprise clients to enhance their internal application development and testing processes using IBM's cloud infrastructure.
Improvements have been made to IBM's Smart Business Development and Test environment to allow developers to create multiple virtual test environments customized for several teams.
Deployment and planning capabilities have also been enhanced to enable developers to graphically lay out a deployment plan using IBM's Deployment Planning and Automation. The improvements to the automation and performance testing tools are up to 50 percent faster, IBM said.
The multi-tenant open cloud has also been improved to support Microsoft Windows 2003 and 2008 Data Center Editions.
"What we've done is reduced the complexity to build apps for the cloud," David Locke, IBM director of marketing for Rational, told ComputerWorld.
According to a recent IBM survey, IT professionals expect
cloud computing and mobile technologies to emerge as the most in-demand platforms for software application development and IT delivery. Ninety-one percent of respondents said cloud computing will overtake on-premise computing as the primary way organizations acquire IT in the next five years.
