Several research firms including Gartner and IDC expect
cloud computing to significantly impact the IT industry beginning next year.
Cloud Tweaks writer Muzaffar Ismail recently reported there will be several key developments associated with the technology in 2012. The news provider indicated that although many have praised the cloud for its green benefits, if more companies adopt its services, vendors will have to consume more energy to establish even larger data centers to support these users.
Since the hype surrounding cloud computing has been immense, vendors will have to change their approach to pitch businesses seeking its benefits.
"While cloud solution providers for 2012 will be working to consolidate their existing services and provide innovation for customers its also the time when you should do the same," wrote Ismail. "Start thinking back about what you can pitch to adopt the cloud or make the long haul road to cloud acceptance less bumpy."
Next year may be the time when cloud computing truly broadens its impact. In fact, a recent study of 300 companies conducted by an IT solutions provider, the cloud was named as the top IT priority for next year.
