The majority of early
cloud computing adopters report that
cloud solutions are better than their on-premise counterparts, according to a recent study by cloud management company Appirio.
In a survey of more than 150 IT decision-makers at medium- and large-sized companies, the majority of experienced cloud adopters say cloud computing has had a positive and strategic impact on their business and IT organization.
According to the study, more than 60 percent of respondents say cloud solutions are better than their on-premise counterparts in terms of availability, cost of ownership, ease of integration, ease of deployment and time-to-value.
Additionally, 83 percent of respondents indicated that cloud computing has helped them respond faster to their business needs.
“Cloud computing is a highly valuable but disruptive technology, and the enterprises that will be most successful with the transition are those who can learn from the experience of others and look beyond the challenges of today,” said Chris Barbin, CEO of Appirio.
Interestingly, the study found 28 percent of respondents say security is the No. 1 misconception about the cloud. In an earlier study by CIO magazine and PricewaterhouseCoopers, 62 percent of some 12,847 business and technology executives stated they have little to no confidence in the security of the cloud.
