The Cloud Security Alliance recently introduced a new working group aimed at improving SaaS security solutions.
Announced at the RSA conference held last month in San Francisco, head of the group Michael Sutton recently told ITWorld much of the work so far has involved organiziation. As the project develops, however, the group will increase its focus on helping organizations test and implement SaaS security solutions.
The working group will also attempt to establish cloud security definitions and categories, while providing organizations with information and guidance regarding SaaS security. According to the news provider, the group hopes to present its service categories and adoption statistics in April.
"There has been very little done to define [security-as-a-service] and establish best practices," Sutton told the news provider. "We aim to change that."
The nonprofit CSA was established in 2008 with the goal of promoting best practices and security measures with
cloud computing. This mission has become more necessary as SaaS adoption continues to increase. According to a recent In-Stat report, SaaS spending in the United States will increase 112 percent between 2010 and 2014.
