Companies encouraged to stop wasting time and adopt the cloud

ZDNet's Dan Kusnetzky recently suggested that companies stop resisting the benefits of
cloud computing and determine how the technology can fit within their businesses and improve operations.
The news provider noted that many company departments are not integrated, which makes it difficult to adopt new technology. Rather than pay a large premium for all services in the data center, the cloud affords businesses the opportunity to use only what they need.
"Older technology stays around until it no longer serves the needs of the organization or until it is entirely replaced by a new approach," wrote Kusnetzky. "It would be wise of IT and facilities practitioners to focus on where and how new technology or new approaches can be of use to the organization rather than trying to fight them."
The writer added that once a new approach or technology finally breaks the adoption barrier, the systems are generally used for a long period of time.
With so much potential for improvement found in typical IT infrastructure, more organizations are expected to adopt cloud computing in the near future. As a result, Global Industry Analysts announced that global spending for the technology is projected to reach $127 billion by 2017.
