Cloud computing offers benefits to realtors

It is always difficult for any type of business to keep track of the millions of bits of data that are accumulated over time. Cloud computing offers a solution to information storage and security, and no industry is more in need of such service than the real estate business.

By upgrading to the cloud, real estate brokerages are able to access and store global data on tax exemptions, bylaws and client preference. This would eliminate the current localization necessary for successful real estate businesses. Recently, real estate giant Bermuda Realty Company Limited upgraded much of their business model to the cloud.

"By moving to cloud hosting, we have made the conscious decision to focus our resources on the real estate services at the heart of our business, and to outsource the underlying technology platforms to IT," said company president Brian Madeiros.

The benefits to integrating cloud services and real estate is not just limited to the real world - a 2009 report defined a cloud broker as an entity that manages the use, performance and delivery of cloud services. In a few years, people might be purchasing cloud property from such licensed brokers.
