From 2011 to 2014, there are several technologies expected to reshape the IT industry. A recent list created by Forrester Research views
cloud computing as one of these developments, eWeek reported.
Some of the benefits associated with the cloud include its scalability, instant access to business resources and the deployment of applications in only minutes. According to the eWeek report, Forrester added that organizations will have to pair their cloud model with other solutions, including Platform-as-a-Service to take advantage of the technology's benefits.
The rise in 10-gigabit ethernet is also expected to be a significant technology trend in the near future. Forrester added that network architectures will evolve in the next several years to meet the growing demand of the cloud, eWeek's Chris Preimesberger reported.
A recent Gartner study also indicates that cloud computing will have a major impact in the tech industry. According to its research, the cloud and mobile computing are part of a list of 10 strategic technologies expected to affect IT.
"Gartner defines a strategic technology as one with the potential for significant impact on the enterprise in the next three years," the report stated.
