The use of
cloud computing continues to allow companies across many industries the ability to lower their costs and ensure data center efficiency.
A recent CIO report revealed that even a cartoon company located in Toronto has adopted the technology for its immense benefits. Cookie Jar has a library of nearly 6,000 TV episodes, including Arthur, Caillou, Inspector Gadget, Johnny Test and the Doodlebops.
"We have very little infrastructure in-house" IT director of Cookie Jar Mike Haas told CIO. "Our headquarters are in a 100-year-old building so there's no capacity for a data room the size we'd need anyway."
By moving to a cloud infrastructure, Cookie Jar has reduced its operating costs by nearly 9 percent. Haas also told the news provider that the company plans to offer its cartoon shows digitally by utilizing the technology.
As companies worldwide turn to cloud computing to lower their IT costs and improve their storage capacity, global spending for the technology is expected to surpass $222 billion by 2015, according to a study conducted by Global Industry Analysts, CIO reported.
