Cloud-based networks are the future of the gaming industry

The far-reaching benefits of
cloud services are well know throughout the business world, and many experts have long speculated how online gaming providers would incorporate cloud computing into their operations. Recently, gaming developers have begun releasing prototypes that offer a glimpse into the future of entertainment.
For instance, Crytek, the corporation responsible for popular games like Crysis and Far Cry, just unveiled a new social gaming platform called "GFACE" that is designed to stream games directly to a customer's console or personal computer. Gamers used to struggle with large amounts of discs and limited memory. Now, through
IT network services, products will be able to be purchased and streamed securely, eliminating the physical need for a cartridge or DVD.
“GFACE enables its users to discover and experience entertainment together in real time. We want everybody to play everywhere for free," said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, according to GamesBeat.
Programmers also plan to include GFACE on smartphones and other mobile devices, because improvements in cloud security should prevent a private information scandal like the incident that affected the PlayStation 3 network. Though only multi-player games will be available at first, more titles will be uploaded as the gaming cloud grows.
